POSITION IN BRIEF: Performs duties related to Rescue operations, as outlined by department protocols or as a designee of the EMS Chief. This person will be required to respond to rescue operations related to Dive and rope rescue situations. This person will be working as a designee of the EMS Chief to perform rescue duties on behalf of the EMS Chief. Shall be subordinate to, under the supervision of, and responsible to the EMS Chief.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE NEEDED
This position requires self-motivation as well as being able to follow orders, and a wide range of capabilities to perform duties that include rescue call time, public relations, mechanical work, clerical work, and building maintenance work.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED OR DESIRED
Must have satisfactorily completed the open water and rescue dive training requirements for P.A.D.I., or equivalent. Have advanced training in rope rescue and be at least 18 years of age. Completion of standard high school diploma or equivalent. Not have any physical or other disabilities that would affect job performance. Have valid driver's license. Be willing to complete service sponsored EMT training if not completed at time of employment.

- Takes call time as outlined above. (85%)
- Will be responsible for the proper filling out of ambulance report forms, cleaning rigs, cleaning ambulance quarters, and other duties as outlined in the Rules and Regulations of St. Croix Emergency Medical Services pamphlet. (15%)

Candidates will be required to complete a physical examination prior to being considered for diving operations.

Work is performed primarily in the area of rescue operations, operating vehicles, working in outdoor settings and in all weather conditions, including temperature extremes, during day and night shifts and working underwater. Work is often performed in emergency and stressful situations. Individual is exposed to hearing alarms and hazards associated with fighting fires and rendering emergency assistance, including smoke, noxious odors, fumes, chemicals, liquid chemicals, solvents and oils, bloodborne pathogens, and infectious waste.
The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
